Manata Hashemi
Manata Hashemi is a Research Associate at the Center for Ethnographic Research at the University of California-Berkeley, where she holds a PhD in Sociology. Her research focuses on the mobility experiences of the urban poor in the Middle East, with a special emphasis on Iran. Her broader fields of interest include development, social stratification, migration, and ethnography. She has conducted fieldwork for the United Nations Children’s Fund on the situation of adolescents and youth in the Middle East and is the co-editor of Children in Crisis: Ethnographic Studies in International Contexts (Routledge, 2013).
