CIRS staff and Georgetown students’ award winning film about Qatar finds a new audience

The award winning short film titled “Hind’s Dream” by CIRS’ Manager and Editor for Publications, Suzi Mirgani, along with a cast and crew of students from the school’s Georgetown Film Society, will be screened again at the Imagine Science Film Festival, to be held in Abu Dhabi from February 19th – 21st, 2015. The film depicts a Bedouin girl recounting a strange dream about wandering the desert and glimpsing a future desert city, reflecting the history, modernity, and folklore of Qatar.

The film premiered at the 2014 Abu Dhabi Film Festival and screened at the 2014 Ajyal Film Festival in Doha where it won the jury award for “artistic vision,” putting the Education City students at the forefront of Qatar’s budding film industry. Asli Altinisik, Athanasios Sardellis, Haya Al Rumaihi, Razan Al Humaidi, Salman Ahad Khan, and Badr Rahima are all members of the Georgetown Film Society, an extracurricular club on campus that is organized and run by students interested in all aspects of cinema.
