The CIRS delegation included Maryam Daud, representing the Center for International and Regional Studies, and Waleed Ziad, Associate Professor of History at Georgetown University in Qatar. Discussions focused on identifying areas of mutual interest and exploring avenues for sustained institutional cooperation between the two institutions.

The meeting highlighted opportunities for collaboration in the fields of Central and South Asian studies, historical and cultural research, academic exchange, and scholarly cooperation. Participants explored the potential for faculty and student exchanges, joint conferences and workshops, collaborative research initiatives, and knowledge sharing between researchers working across the two regions.

Particular attention was given to strengthening scholarly exchange in support of CIRS research and publications. The discussions also explored opportunities to engage experts from Central Asia in ongoing CIRS initiatives, including research on migration, mobility, and demographic change. Such collaboration would contribute valuable regional perspectives and help advance CIRS’s growing body of work on migration and transregional connections.

The meeting further considered mechanisms for fostering academic mobility and creating platforms that facilitate dialogue among scholars, researchers, and students. Both institutions expressed interest in developing partnerships that leverage their respective strengths and contribute to a deeper understanding of the historical, cultural, and contemporary dynamics shaping Central and South Asia.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to exploring formal avenues for collaboration and advancing mutually beneficial initiatives in research, education, and academic exchange.
