CIRS Exhibits at Qatar Foundation’s Annual Research Forum
The Center for International and Regional Studies took part in Qatar Foundation’s Annual Research Forum on October 21-23, 2012, at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The forum was attended by over 1,500 local and international researchers, participants, and audience members. Members of CIRS were on hand throughout the forum to answer questions about ongoing research projects and grant opportunities. Current and ongoing research initiatives include projects that examine Politics and the Media in the Post-Arab Spring Middle East; Weak States in the Middle East; Social Change in Post-Khomeini Iran; The Evolving Ruling Bargain in the Middle East; and Sectarian Politics in the Gulf. For two other projects, Arab Migrant Communities in the GCC and The State and Innovation in the Gulf, CIRS is awarding research grants in order to support original, empirically-grounded fieldwork and research on topics related to each area of investigation.
Visitors to the CIRS booth at the Annual Research Forum’s exhibition hall learned more about these and other projects and took copies of published papers from the Center’s research activities, including Occasional Papers, Briefs, Summary Reports, and Newsletters. All papers available at the booth are free to the public.
