CIRS Hosts QTEL Chair Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani

Q-Tel Chair to Share Insights on How Technology is Shaping the Arab World with SFS-Q students and the public

Doha, Qatar– Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Q) is proud to host Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Q-TEL Group who will be holding a lecture in the Georgetown SFS-Q auditorium entitled ‘Technology and the Changing Arab World’ tomorrow at 6pm.

As the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) and Q-Tel Group since 2000, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, will bring his insights on how Technology is shaping the Arab World in today’s fast paced tech savvy environment with the public audience at SFS-Q.

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, said “Technology and the digital generation is a key topic in Qatar, the Middle East and North Africa region, and the entire world. At Q-Tel Group, we have a vital interest in delivering life-enhancing services to our customers, enabling socio-economic development and cross-cultural conversations through social media. It is a pleasure to address Qatar’s students and thought leaders, who are able to foster positive changes in domestic and international affairs.”

H.E. has been instrumental in the restructuring and regional expansion of Q-Tel, taking it from being a single nation operator to a group with a presence in 17 countries from North Africa to South East Asia, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani will bring his experience and in-depth knowledge of the role technology is playing in these diverse markets to inform his presentation.

Mehran Kamrava, director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown (CIRS) commented on Qatar’s growing prominence in this field. “In recent years, Qatar has placed itself as a hub of innovation, and Q-Tel has been one of the main driving forces behind this important drive. We are pleased to host the discussion by Q-Tel’s Chair Sheikh Abdullah on the interplay between technology and the digital generation.”
